Dear guest!
Coral reefs belong to the most species-rich, most productive and most complex ecosystems of our planet. This brochure gives you some information about general ecological conditions of a coral reef and every single station of our reef study trail. Of course we could just mark the solid grown parts of the reef. Different species of fish, that you can frequently find will also be discussed. Our reef study trail has been built in the summer of 2002. Since reefs are dynamic environments and therefore constantly changing, after only one year markedly changes could be already seen and documented. Unfortunately nearly 60% of the world’s reef systems are endangered in their existence and we are all asked to do something to their protection. Our reef study trail should help to build up an understanding for this ecosystem and help you to understand the incredible complexity by using the following examples.
We wish you a safe dive and lots of interesting and thrilling discoveries underwater!
