HOUSE REEF - Arabia/Arabella Beach
For experienced guests who want to plan their dives individually we also offer independent house reef diving.
The transfer of the diving bags and tanks from the diving center is arranged every full hour. The divers will receive a detailed briefing about entrance, dive planning, current and exit in the office before the dive.
In the summer of 2002 we created a reef path with different stations to help with the underwater orientation and to give an introduction to the reef’s ecosystem. With the help of underwater slates the different stations can be visited.

For equipment storage, equipment preparation and dressing a special area at the beach, close to the house reef, has been built. It has a roof to protect against the sun and electric light for night dives.
From the surface the reef parts marked by buoys and ropes can already be seen. The stone stairs offer a comfortable entrance into the lagoon. Even there moses soles, bluespotted stingrays and stone fishes can be found.
At the reef itself a depth of not more than 12 to 14 meters is reached. In front of the reef a sandy plateau with different blocks of corals stretches down to about 28 meters.
This deeper area with the for the Red Sea typical variety of corals should be discovered first. Leather corals, fire corals, fan corals and soft corals as well as in the protection of the coral blocks living animals like morays, octopuses and groupers can be found there.
After returning to the reef to continue the journey there, lionfish, glassfish, clown fish, pyjama slugs, banded snake eels, carpet flatheads and pipefish will cross the diver’s way.
With some luck the huge reef grouper can be found inside the metal cage placed by Blue Water instructors at the house reef. This cage became a home for many underwater creatures. It is used for the resettlement of corals as part of the reef path project initiated by our diving center.
Additional guided night dives are scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
